Theatre503
I found my year-long internship with Theatre503 through my university course as part of my placement year; please take a look at my video diary (which I scripted, edited and partially filmed with the help of two fellow students).

I initially worked as an administrative assistant and became proficient in distributing emails, organising the theatre’s online filing system on Dropbox, taking minutes of team meetings and selling tickets to customers over the phone and at the box office while also gaining crucial insight into the inner workings of a new writing theatre.
I managed the 503 scouting team by emailing out new scouting opportunities to my team on a weekly basis, liaising with industry contacts to organise complimentary tickets for my scouts and ensuring my scouts attended shows and submitted reports that could be relayed back to the original contact as constructive feedback.

I initially worked as an administrative assistant and became proficient in distributing emails, organising the theatre’s online filing system on Dropbox, taking minutes of team meetings and selling tickets to customers over the phone and at the box office while also gaining crucial insight into the inner workings of a new writing theatre. All of the production images on this page are from shows that were staged during my stay at Theatre503 and hence were shows where I either directly participated in the behind the scenes preparations or witnessed them firsthand, including The Dark Room, In Event of Moone Disaster and Bre'er Cotton.
I managed the 503 scouting team by emailing out new scouting opportunities to my team on a weekly basis, liaising with industry contacts to organise complimentary tickets for my scouts and ensuring my scouts attended shows and submitted reports that could be relayed back to the original contact as constructive feedback.

I explored new avenues of work including trying my hand at designing flyers on Canva, promoting a 503 production by providing posters to local businesses and using Hootsuite to schedule tweets and Facebook posts.
After excelling in reading and writing reports on scripts, the Executive Director officially refocused my internship so that I could support the Literary Department as a Literary Coordinator. Advancing to the role of Literary Coordinator required a great level of organisational and communication skills in order to balance the many new responsibilities alongside my work as a box office and administrative assistant and scout team manager.
I managed a team of ‘Unsolicited’ script readers on a weekly basis by distributing two scripts to each reader, checking in with my readers via email to ensure they were submitting regular script reports, conversing with the writers of the unsolicited scripts and sending out edited versions of the readers’ feedback to these playwrights. I also distributed 200 scripts to the judges of the 2018 Playwriting Award, co-hosted Unsolicited readers meetings and contributed to the selection process of scripts to be performed at several Rapid Write Response Nights.

I started volunteering as a script reader for unsolicited scripts at Theatre503 during my internship and decided to continue reading two scripts per week and writing detailed feedback reports throughout my final year of university and after graduating. I regularly submit suggestions to the Literary Department regarding which plays I feel are suitable for programming or require further development and make recommendations in regard to which writers they should contact. I also attended monthly meetings to discuss my script reports with other readers and evaluate the ratings other readers and I have given plays in the past.
